Compassion Sunday

Sunday 26 March was Compassion Sunday where Generation Church sponsored 16 children from Masbate in the Philippines. This message by Michael Keefe, Compassion representative, reminded us God is our provider.

John 6:1-14 Jesus feeds 5000

God is our provider. Is God provider for all humanity?

Matthew 6:9-13 Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

He is our Father. Give us the food we need. Forgive those who sin against us. Not me or I, but us.

Give us today our daily bread… He is our provider. God provides for us. Provision is for us not me.

If I think my provisions are for me then I act like God is my provider not our provider.

Matthew 6:3 But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.

There is an understanding that as the church we will give to needy.

John 6:12 After everyone was full, Jesus told his disciples, “Now gather the leftovers, so that nothing is wasted.”

In God’s abundance, there was a purpose for every part. He does not want any to be wasted.

How much do I waste? Food? Money? Time?

Don’t be stingy, be purposeful with your resource.

God is the God of abundance not excess and waste. All God gives me has a purpose.
