Generational Mandate

Judges 16:21-30

Every church has a mandate, something it should be known for.

Many churches never discover their mandate. They waver too and fro. Follow the trends. The commission always comes first.

When a church finds and follows it’s mandate, it begins to move in a sweet spot, a groove.

So what is our church’s mandate?

Proverbs 13:22 A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children.

Generations.

We are a generational church. It is our mandate to see multiple generations of the one household serving God in this place.

Generational ownership

Deuteronomy 1:8 Look, I am giving all this land to you! Go in and occupy it, for it is the land the Lord swore to give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to all their descendants.

Generational salvation

Psalm 102:28 The children of your people will live in security. Their children’s children will thrive in your presence.”
Psalm 103:17 But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children.
Acts 16:31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

Generational impact

Deuteronomy 4:9 Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don’t forget anything of what you’ve seen. Don’t let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you’ve seen and heard to your children and grandchildren.

Psalm 78:4-7 We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders. For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them—even the children not yet born—and they in turn will teach their own children. So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.

Generational blessing

Exodus 20:6 But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands.

What does Samson have to do with anything?
The hair of the Samson church is growing back.

Judges 16:26 Samson said to the young servant who was leading him by the hand, “Place my hands against the pillars that hold up the temple. I want to rest against them.”

Samson was getting stronger. He could feel the presence of the Lord again. But one thing he lacked. Victory could not be found without the young servant.

Samson was strong. But he needed the eyes of youth.

We go in the strength of our fathers, with fresh vision of youth.

Acts 2:17 ‘In the last days,’ God says,‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.

It is time for young men to have vision. To lead the next great revival. We do it together. Strength of our fathers, vision of youth.

God has not finished with the Samson generation. We need your strength, coming alongside youthful vision.Together, we gain victory.
