Gratefulness

Luke 15:32 We had to celebrate this happy day. For your brother was dead and has come back to life! He was lost, but now he is found!’”

Continuing thoughts on the Parable of the Lost Son. The Father gave his son a key to a better life: thankfulness.

We need to be grateful for what is going on. We should be thankful. Your brother could have died lost. But he is home. Let’s celebrate and be thankful.

John Maxwell talks about the law of recognition. Everything in your life is already in your life awaiting recognition. Anything unrecognised becomes uncelebrated. Uncelebrated, it goes unrewarded. Unrewarded, it eventually leaves your life.

Do you recognise blessing? Or are you thinking people owe you? People are ripping you off? Be more thankful.

Grateful at work. Grateful at home – spouse, children, your house, car.

Grateful for church. Are you grateful for the church? Paul was persecuting the church, Jesus said, “Why are you persecuting Me?” People give their time to vacuum, clean, prepare worship, teach Sunday School, prepare messages, etc. Let’s be grateful. Let’s create a culture of gratefulness.

In all circumstances give thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:18).  Not for the problem, but through the situation.

Be thankful for the church. Here there is hope, encouragement, life. Make church a priority. Catch an attitude of gratefulness.
