Next Steps

Psalm 37:23 The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.

What is your next step? It’s healthy to have next steps.

One reason we don’t take next steps is fear. Materialism is another. Approval – keeping others happy – wastes steps.

Luke 5:1-11

Disciple is a follower, pupil and learner. A disciple is willing to take next steps.

Are you willing to take a next step out of your comfort zone? Is your next step to lay things down?

Jesus didn’t just tell the disciples to believe in Him. He told them to follow. Being a disciple involves more than belief, you also need to follow.

Luke 14:26-28 If you want to be my disciple, you must, by comparison, hate everyone else—your father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And if you do not carry your own cross and follow me, you cannot be my disciple. But don’t begin until you count the cost.

Are you sold out to the purposes of God? Are you willing to pay the price? Are you willing to lay everything else down?

John 8:31-32 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

The truth that will set you free requires you to be a disciple. Chase His truth. There is a new level of freedom for disciples.

Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet, step out of the boat. It will inspire others to believe.

Are you willing to be a disciple? Will you follow and take the next step?
