The Language of Grace – Forgiveness

1 Corinthians 2:12 And we have received God’s Spirit not the world’s spirit, so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

Romans 5:15 But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.

Every sin – past, present, future – is forgiven. God lives outside time. All our sins were dealt with on the Cross.

Hebrews 8:12 And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.

We don’t forgive because then God will forgive us, we forgive because we are forgiven by God already.

Colossians 3:13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

According to the New Covenant we don’t love others as we love ourselves, we love as Christ loved us.
Keep the focus on Jesus, not on your sin.

Luke 7:47 “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.”

Our heart wants to bring glory to God. Our heart wants to stay away from sin. When we mess up, we are forgiven.

Matthew 26:28 for this is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice to forgive the sins of many.

Sin is forgiven because of the Blood.

2 Chronicles 16:9 The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.

Have a heart for God. Forgiven. He is looking for us. He will strengthen us.
